About Us

Since 1990 our president Marie Peterson has been creating one of a kind custom homes that continue to amaze. Her first house that she built single-handedly still stands in almost completely original condition on the Indianola Sandspit in Washington State. A testament to the fact that we build to stand the tests of time.

Marie started in the construction business to change the direction the building industry was headed. Thousands of low-quality “cookie cutter” houses started to flood the market, turning a highly personal and creative process, into a factory produced box with windows. That’s not creating a home, that’s just a roof over your head. When you walk into your home, it should feel like somewhere you were always meant to be. Warm, full of joy & peaceful.

Creating a company that had a vision to be the change, meant that not only did we have to think outside the box, we also had to cultivate a crew willing to give it their all. Instead of the typical, show up, read the plan, and slave at it for eight hours, we involve our whole crew in decision making & if they have a better way to achieve something, they’re heavily encouraged to bring it to the table. Our highly skilled crew has become our family, rather than our employees. We believe in creating an environment to allow them to not only flourish in their own skills, but learn new ones and create their own success.

Being in business for 30+ years means that there virtually isn’t anything we haven’t done. Our team comes equipped with a variety of skills. We are a full service general construction & design company with a highly capable in-house team as well as a large network of skilled subcontractors, some of which have been working with us those 30+ years.

We specialize in high quality residential design and construction, however we’ve had experiences with many different styles and locations of homes.

Company president, Marie, is constantly communicating and involved in your project to make 100% sure that your dream is coming true and all goes per plan. With her being the designer and contractor, there’s less room for miscommunication and things tend to go smoother. That’s not to say we don’t work with other architects. If you already have a design, we’re more than happy to help complete the process.

In addition to creating houses that break the molding, we couldn’t stop there. All drawings produced by NewLeaf are old fashioned hand drawings. Yes, you read that right, there’s no design software here. We’ve even had design meetings where it comes down to taking a large piece of paper and starting to sketch right then and there, that’s as creative as it gets. It’s about you to enjoying the process as well as the end result.
